May 16th is National Love A Tree Day!  Trees are an integral part of our ecosystem. They house animals and provide oxygen as well as much needed shade amongst other things. Even dead and fallen trees serve a purpose! And I'm sure you are wondering how it relates to clothing? There are several brands that use Tencel as their fabric of choice, which is the processing of birch trees into fabric. The paper that is used in packaging comes from trees also. How do these brands participate in making this process a little more gentle on the earth? Here are three brands that are making a difference.

1. AMOUR VERT

Amour Vert- the sustainable French inspired brand from San Francisco uses Tencel Modal as one of their signature fabrics. They work in conjunction with American Forests, to plant a tree for every tee sold. American Forests knows where to plant what type of tree to make the most ecological impact.

2. NATION LTD

Nation Ltd - currently works in conjunction with The Purus Project to offset carbon, a tropical forest conservation project in Acre, Brazil. It is estimated that by 2030 the forest could decline to 65%. They work with communities and local groups to help protect the ecosystem as well as education on improved agricultural techniques while monitoring unsustainable uses of the forest.

3. PACT

Pact - Pact does not use tree fibers in their garments, however, they have partnered with SimpliZero, an organization that helps offset the carbon footprint of every product through reforestation. Pact also uses Vela bags in their shipments, which is responsibly made, carbon-neutral FSC certified and recyclable paper bag.

Do you know of a brand that supports our forests? If so, send us a message and tell us about it! We'd love to know!
