Finn + Emma is an organic baby, toddler and preschooler clothing and toy brand. They create heirloom quality pieces that are stylish yet classic, with a hint of playfulness. Their focus on sustainability makes them unique. From beginning to end, their production process is Eco-friendly. They are certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria. The entire textile supply chain, including ethical and sustainable business practices, are backed by independent certification. The requirements for GOTS certification are numerous and strict, and Finn + Emma are very proud of this achievement.
Finn + Emma was created by Founder/Owner/Designer Anna Schwengle in 2013. She noticed a lack of high quality, organic children’s apparel that was trendy and sophisticated. Knowing that cotton is treated heavily with chemicals, and that a baby’s skin is thin and porous, she thought going organic would be best for baby.
What sets Finn + Emma apart? Each detail of fabrication is thought out. The fabric itself is buttery soft. The buttons, which are lead and nickel free for skin sensitivities, are decorated with coconut inserts. The toys are made out of renewable and untreated Indian hardwood coated with a nontoxic vegetable wax.
Finn + Emma products also go through rigorous testing in the United States to meet the safety criteria of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and The American Society for Testing Materials. The company uses certified third-party laboratories to test samples of all their products post-production. Each product comes with tracking information, identifying its manufacturing date and location.
A large part of the company’s manufacturing is done in India, with some of the knitted items made in Peru. Because of the GOTS certification, this provides safe work and a living wage especially to mothers, allowing them social and economic independence.
Finn + Emma boasts awards from Cool Mom Picks, The Crisbie Better Living Awards and Best of Baby Awards by The Bump. They also have been featured in People, Vogue and The Good Trade magazines, to name a few. Even stars like Jennifer Garner, Zooey Deschanel, Jimmy Fallon and Olivia Wilde sport their brand.
